Looking for Vinyl Solutions for My Car?

So, I’ve been getting into car mods lately, and I’ve come to the realization that vinyl wraps and decals might be the best route to go for customizing my ride without breaking the bank. I have a 2018 Honda Civic, and I’m really looking to make it stand out a bit more. I’ve seen some amazing vinyl jobs around, and I’m pretty excited to give it a try myself, but I have a couple of concerns.
First off, I’ve been to a few car modification shops, and the quotes I’ve been getting for full wraps or even simple decal applications are just crazy! We’re talking about thousands of dollars. I’m definitely not trying to spend that much. I’ve been thinking about doing it myself, but I really don’t have much experience with vinyl installation, and I’m worried about messing it up. I’ve watched a few YouTube tutorials, but it seems like there’s a lot more to it than just slapping a piece of vinyl on the surface. The last thing I want is to mess up my car’s paint or have bubbles or wrinkles all over the place.
Does anyone here have experience doing vinyl wraps on their own? What are some tips or tools you’d recommend to make sure the application goes smoothly? And how long does the process typically take? I’ve heard that the prep work is just as important as the installation itself. If anyone has any horror stories or advice on how to avoid mistakes, I’d love to hear them!
Lastly, has anyone used vinyl wraps for interior mods too? I’m looking at possibly doing the dashboard, center console, or even the door handles. Is that even possible with vinyl, and does it hold up over time with all the wear and tear from touching it constantly? I don’t want to invest the time if it’s going to peel off after a few months, so any insights would be super helpful.
